CURRICULUM

This master’s is an academic experience covering 168 hours in post-graduate program that allows students to delve in a specific area of knowledge within the horse-assisted neuro-coaching field.

If you are currently certified with Horse-assisted neuro-coaching diploma or any other degree equivalent to the program’s curriculum and work load, if you feel that you are at a stage where you feel your professional objectives have been achieved and if you wish to have an advanced level to assume new challenges, the Master’s will lead you to a continuous development and update as you head towards the future.

When completing this academic level, a research dissertation will be required to show you have mastered the conceptual and methodological skill contained in this curriculum.

Specific objectives:

• To understand and broaden the knowledge about the foundations of neuroscience as applied to coaching and its relationship to the interaction between humans and horses.
• To acquire highly applicable tools to optimize your sessions and workshops.
• To form high level professional in this practice, capable of generating and broadening their knowledge with a sense of ethics and social commitment.

MODULE I:

Neurosciences applied to the transforming coaching process.

This module will include 12 classes pursuant to the following topics:

TOPICS

· Anatomic structures and neurological functioning of the Nervous System.
· The brain, our mind’s home.
· Emotional brain: limbic system, particularly the hippocampus and the amygdala. Hypothalamus. Learning process, memory, motivation, monitoring, mediation, and emotional expression. Sexual and social behavior.
· Memory. What is memory? Types of memory. Level of processing. Memory and emotion. Memory and motivation.
· Thalamic filter: attention, language, memory, and executive function.
· Personality.
· Cortex: Cognition – the 8 cognitive functions. Cognitive distortion. Perception, intellect, conscience. Integration and planning.
· Cerebral activity in the construction of emotions.
· Emotional functions.
· Relation between emotion and thought processes. Stress, anxiety and phobias. Complementary tools.
· Attention. SARA. Mindfulness.
· The quest for novelty and uncertainty. Empathy, approval, self-sufficiency, and comparison.
· Cognitive-operational-emotional model. How to think in 4-D. Left frontal, right frontal, left basal, right basal.
· Brain dominance and sub-dominance: Benzinger test. Natural competencies.
· Decision-making: reason, emotion, and intuition.
· Neuroplasticity. Neuronal networks. Association.
· Consciousness. Integrated information theory (Tonini).

MODULE II:

To optimize the neuro-coaching practice in search of a maximum development of our professional being and making.

This module will comprise 12 classes pursuant to the following topics:

TOPICS

· The origins of coaching and its evolution. Knowing the different currents and schools as well as its philosophy.
· Logical levels. Human needs. Maslow. Levels of consciousness by Richard Barret. Self-realization. Self-esteem. Altruism and service. Alignment of levels.
· Personality. How is your personality formed? Eneagram. How do you relate: shame, envy, and jealousy. Why and what for? The search for approval and certainty. Self-suffiency and comparison. Attachment and dependency: the entrusted power.
· Objective emotions behind the words. Acknowledge the influence of emotions in thought processes.
· The truth about anger. Triggers for annoyance and snapping reactions. Replication and its expression through vengeance.
· Conversational intelligence. Why do we need it? Challenges while driving on the conversational highway. Organizational anthropology and conversational rituals.
· The 4 stages and 7 steps in the coaching process. Diagnosis, design, and assessment of the action plan execution in the coaching process pursuant to what has been agreed upon with the client.
· Conscious preparation of the basal state centered in the alignment of thinking, feeling, and doing. Generating an environment of trust. Meta-consciousness exploration (inquiry).
· Empathy as a fundamental distinction and support in the coaching process. The function of acknowledging the other. Qualities that do not qualify in this distinction: advise, consolation, sympathize and interpret.
· Stress: stimulus and response.
· Simon Sinec Golden circle. Purpose, process, and result. How to set up a persuasive and inspirational message through the golden circle.
· Ethics and business in the Horse-assisted neuro-coaching world.
· Business marketing and management.

MODULE III:

The horse, its mental, social and emotional functioning and its relationship with us.

This module will comprise 7 classes pursuant to the following topics:

TOPICS

  • Taxonomic classification of horses.
  • External conformation. Planes. Poise.
  • The contribution of evolution. Domestication of horses.
  • Comparative anatomy: man – horse.
  • Equine Ethology: Instinctive behavior.
  • Study of Equine behavior. The herd. Dominance and hierarchy. Synchronization. Avoiding collision or respecting personal space.
  • Perception. The senses. Prey animal and social animal. Proprioception, vibrations.
  • The horse’s body language and the equestrian specialist’s clean language.
  • Open dynamics. On the horse pen.
  • Facilites. Routines. Maintenance diet.
  • Yielding to pressure (Parelli method analysis).
  • Habit, a way of learning to adapt to the environment. Sacking out. Learning theories. Spontaneous exploration. Horses do not generalize. Site effect.
  • Analysis and preparation of instructions.

MODULE IV:

Practicum and mentorship

This module addresses the process of interaction among students and professors looking for continuous and dynamic feedback to build a learning relationship where mentors focus on the knowledge, information and skills for the professional and personal development of the mentee (term used to refer to the person who participates in the mentoring activity).
This module will comprise 8 classes pursuant to the following topics:

TOPICS

· Tutoring tools. The use of internal mentors.
· Development of real cases presented by multidisciplinary professionals.
· Practical exercises where a self-assessment process is performed in order to substantiate the learning.
